CARIA. Uncertain. Circa 520-490 BC. 1/3 Stater (Silver, 12 mm, 2.71 g), Aeginetic (?) standard. Head of a roaring lion to left; neck truncation formed of dots between parallel lines. Rev. Quadripartite square incuse. HN online 2127. Leu 77 (2000), 145 = Triton XII (2009), 324. SNG Kayhan 933. Very rare. A lovely coin with a wonderfully vigorous rendering of a lion. Slightly granular, otherwise, extremely fine.
